The Girlfriends and how we started this.

Jen

So Jen was born in the country and grew up barefooted, wearing dresses and chasing geese & goats. At a very early age, she started waitressing at home and serving everyone…even when they didn’t want their dinner order taken. Hospitality was in her bones. She went on to major in that in college and spent the next 28 years in the resort business (that’s where she met Rachel) after a brief detour at a ballet company.

She now runs her own marketing consulting agency and has two teenagers whom she loves to travel the world with. She is mildly obsessed with zoos and oceanlife and all “those” animals. She has always had labrador retrievers….even her first two rescues had to “look like labs”.

She still loves dresses and baking is one of her passions. Likes: teas, birthday candles, sprinkles and flipflops.

Rachel

Rachel was always a pretty sporty girl. Always swimming, skiing, boating and keeping active. Very fashionable, her high school pictures show she was a major stakeholder in hairspray! She met her husband in grade school and lives right down the road from her childhood home. Family means everything to her. Her two boys keep her busy boating, fishing, swimming, hiking and skiing.

Rachel is still pretty sporty. She was in HR for many years in the ski industry and the resort industry (that’s where she met Jen) and definitely chose her job based on the fact that she could bring her dog to work. She would eventually take over the family business of hardware distribution and the import of German made dog, equine and boat hardware. She is mildly obsessed with shopping and finding new things to share with family & friends.

She loves the Adirondacks; the style, their essence and her labradors fit right in that style. Likes: teas, yoga, handbags, boots and hats.

Our “STORE”

We have always wanted to do something like this. so we took advantage of the down time in early 2020 and the frankly terrifying time of Covid-19 and took the plunge. Starting small and learning to prioritize, we created Life + Labradors as a place where we could share some of the things we found in our business worlds & our personal lives and hope that we knew enough to buy things that people would enjoy.

There are so many wonderful makers out there and we hope we can be the ones to introduce you to new and exciting ones. This shop also allows us to use our shopping addiction for good! WE like to feature locally made goods, woman owned companies and small batch products. that’s not to say we might throw something else into the mix but that’s our main focus. vermont and new york are our backyards and we are lucky to have some very talented artisans here.
